Good morning ! My husband and I have recently returned from a great three week private tour of Vietnam. I booked all the land content of our trip, private English speaking guides, and private air conditioned cars with drivers directly through an excellent travel agency located in Hanoi . I priced the same trip through agencies here in Sydney and the saving was not hundreds but thousands of dollars. The travel agent that I dealt with is named Mr Pham Ha. All the guides employed spoke excellent English, were knowledgeable, helpful and flexible, considering our needs and requests. The drivers were cautious, a must in the land of two wheeled vehicles, the cars air conditioned and in good condition. My TIP is book directly through a company based in Vietnam ! Highlights of this three week trip were many including, Halong Bay, stay overnight on Cat Ba Island if you aren't keen on sleeping in a small boat;  take a break in the middle of your tour in historic Hoian,{ I can recommend the Victorian Resort}the beach is lovely and sandy, have something  made to measure at one of the many tailors situated here at a bargain price; Visit Hue and the Forbidden City and make sure you go to one of the land markets in the Mekong Delta and the Russian Market{Near the Post Office} in HCM City as well as a visit the world famous tunnels outside HCM City.

Thank you for your recent letter regarding our holiday in Vietnam. We did have a lovely weekend on Halong Bay and in particular would like to compliment you on the excellent service provided by our tour guide Rose. She was particularly knowledgeable and had a wonderful sense of humour that endeared her to our group. We were on one of the smaller junks (6 cabins) and we thoroughly enjoyed the fact that we joined with the other passengers for our meals etc which added another perspective to the tour. The food on board was delicious and the wines excellent Perhaps one criticism I could make is that we found it very crowded on the bay when we dropped anchor for the night which is a shame when there is such a lot of water out there. Although we do live in the tropics we did find June a particularly hot month to visit Vietnam and would certainly come back for another visit but perhaps in a cooler month.
