After pick-up at your hotel, you enjoy a half day excursion to the famous Cu Chi tunnels. This network of tunnels, which stretched for over 200km, became legendary during the 1960s.
Cu Chi tunnels played a vital part in the U.S.-Vietnam War in that they allowed the Viet Cong to control a large rural area only 30 to 40 km from former Saigon .
At its height, the tunnel system stretched from Saigon to the Cambodian border. The network, parts of which were several levels deep, included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centres and kitchens.
Today the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and feel of what underground life during the war must have been like.
The tunnels have been widened for our benefit (otherwise we would not be able to enter them!) For those interested there's even the opportunity to try an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range.

"Cu Chi Tunnels Attract Tourists. The Vietnam War left the country and its people in a terrible state, it appears that the painful memories are gradually settling down and the Vietnamese are ready to tell their stories to the world. Many tourists who come to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) are attracted by the nearby Cu Chi Tunnels. If time permits, I also recommend you to visit the Ben Duoc Area for an authentic view of tunnels and this amazing net work underground” Pham Ha, Founder and CEO of Luxury Travel Ltd.
"Visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels was a memorable experience. In the pouring rain, we walked around the site where battles were fought and so many lives were lost. Venturing into the claustrophobic dark tunnels was something I will never forget. It was the blind leading the blind into the darkness of those narrow tunnels, relying on the feel of the walls as we were hunched over double. Ten minutes underground felt like much, much longer. It was a relief to come back to ground level, but also gave me a huge sense of appreciation for the amazing survival techniques that the Vietnamese used in this dark period of their history." Nicole Maron, Sydney , Australia.
“Amazing tunnels, close to Ho Chi Minh stands an amazing complex of underground tunnels that formed an underground city of sleep quarters, armaments, kitchens and command centres which at its peak housed up to 10,000 people. Crawl along the serpentine passageways, descend deep into the tunnel complex and search for the elusive hidden trap door. Incrediable but True” David Nguyen, Sales and Marketing Manager.
.....We would have no hesitation at all in recommending your company and services to our friends and colleagues at the embassy. Of all the wonderful places that we were taken to I think that Cu Chi tunnels made the greatest impact as we came to realize the awful conditions that were endured by those who want their freedom..... Malcolm and Franc Surman, working for the UK Embassy, Bangkok, Thailand. |
